point is just because you have Albion dont think that Symphobia is redundant. But they are very very different products, I think everyone would agree with unless they really just see all ensemble libraries like this as being the same. Maybe the only thing that Albion does better probably all circumstances is Woodwinds. But I love to use Symphobias Brass sounds. I love using Albions short notes on the strings, great spicc sounds. Albion does sound more alive, but Symphobia just has a sound that easily works in a modern mixes and slots in with other sounds very easily. Even the sounds that you'd think do overlap I need for different things because they sound so different. Lows are fine.Īlso I have Albion, SYM1 and SYM 2 and i can tell you now theres not a helleva lot of overlap. The high legatos do have a beautiful sound and do remind me of Williams, but they also have phasing issues if you hold the note after playing a transition which means I personally cannot use those patches. Havent heard anything (commercial) that comes close really.Īlbion has some really nice sounds, but as a "string library" cant be compared. I dunno the most JW stuff Ive heard has been from Hollywood Strings/Brass. I'm sure one day those boxes will adorn my shelves but unless I can run them on my current system I cannot consider them. I will not go down the road of ramping up my machine, or buying a new one, just to accomodate Hollywood Strings though. Not a huge fan of the Play player but it works well for me, just sort of limited. I have been a huge fan of their stuff and own almost every single Play lib. (I know you get what you pay for.) That's why I was wondering if Albion and LASS lite would work well.Īs far as the east west stuff goes I do love their sounds. I would go with Symphobia but it absolutely kills me that it costs what it does.
My computer is a quad core, 8 gigs of ram, blah, blah, blah, windows vista (i know I need to upgrade to win 7 but all is working fine so if it ain't broke.)Īs I mentioned I have the VSL stuff and it works great but I like the idea of a product like Symphobia or Albion where (shameful to say) you can just grab a few big chords and sound full and rich.
